Body image is something we girls struggle with these days. The society we live in does not make it any easier on us. Society holds a warped view of what beauty truly is. A college student-produced website talked about beauty saying, “…because society struggles to accept those who do not look like models, the perception of beauty will continue to be distorted.” Society seems to think that slimmer is better – the more you starve yourself, the more beautiful you become. That could not be further from the truth. Beauty comes from within. Let’s see what God has to say about beauty. 1 Peter 3:3-4 says, “Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.” God sees only what is in your heart as opposed to the world’s view of only your outward appearance. Stop listening to the world. Listen to our God. He is the one who crafted you just the way He wanted. Love yourself like He perfectly loves you. It’s hard to do, especially when the world says you are not good enough. Ignore their plea for perfection and realize your perfection in Christ Jesus – who gave His life for us because He sees us as priceless – as beautiful.
